Dr. Diana Hodgins of GaitSmart was delighted to get the opportunity to present her work on ‘Early detection of knee OA’ and ‘How gait is affected by joint replacement’ at the conference last week.  These stimulated considerable interest and it is anticipated it will lead to new groups across the world looking at how they may improve outcomes following joint replacement by understanding what exactly is wrong in the gait cycle.

In addition, Diana was delighted that Yelena Walters, a colleague working at UCL was able to present ‘Can task orientated rehabilitation improve knee function 12 months after knee replacement surgery’.   Her initial findings indicate that this is indeed possible, again by starting with an objective measurement of exactly what is wrong.
