GaitSmart – Essex, a service arm of GaitSmart are pleased to announce the beginning of a working partnership with Concord Rangers FC, from Canvey Island in Essex. Dr. Diana Hodgins of GaitSmart was delighted to get the opportunity to present her work on ‘Early detection of knee OA’ and ‘How gait is affected by joint replacement’ at the conference last week. We had a good presentation session with a delegation from the Jiangsu Provincial Hospital in China. The session was arranged by Essex International and the location was the Sports Centre at Writtle College. Writtle College already has two GaitSmart systems, one for their equine students and one for their human students. Dr. Gregory Deacon at Writtle College volunteered to be our patient for the session. On Thursday we attended the Human Motion Analysis for Healthcare Applications conference at the IET in London and presented our paper entitled “Gait monitoring using inertial measurement units in an orthopaedic outpatient clinic”.
